Additionally, have some blanket permission to podfic or create art for anything I've posted. Just let me know if you do; I'd love to see it/hear it, and add a link in the original post. (As for other secondary fanworks, please ask. I promise that I don't bite!)

HOW IT WORKS:
1. This is a rarepairs/hipster ships ficathon, so any hockey RPF ship about which there are fewer than 50 fics on AO3 is fair game. The following ships are NOT allowed:
- Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews
- Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin
- Danny Briere/Claude Giroux
- Jordan Eberle/Taylor Hall
- Duncan Keith/Brent Seabrook
- Jeff Carter/Mike Richards
- Alexandre Burrows/Ryan Kesler
- Jeff Skinner/Eric Staal
2. Prompt as much as you want, but one prompt per comment. Prompt format: Pairing, prompt. Prompts can be as detailed or vague as you like. Additionally, gif/photo prompts are absolutely allowed.
3. Use relevant warnings! If you're posting a fill, put them at the top of the comment, and if there are any warnings that apply to your prompt, warn for them at the top of the comment as well.
4. After you post a fill, please go to the filled prompts thread (lj || dw) and leave a comment with the pairing, prompt, relevant warnings (including if it's rated R/NC-17), and a link to the fill.
5. Just uh, be nice and shit? Don't bash players, teams, or ships, blah blah, everyone has heard this lecture before.
If you want to promote this, feel free to crosspost to your journal/your favorite comm(s)/whatever. There's a tumblr post you can reblog here.

Mar. 16th, 2013 04:22 pm I don't feel like writing any of the stuff on my to-write list and don't have any other ideas but ... also don't really want to not be writing. So. Timestamp meme! Any One Direction stuff I've written is fair play, I guess? If people are interested?
This post has no substance and I should be sorry but I'm too lazy.

year in review: 2012
Dec. 31st, 2012 01:03 pmI didn't find any general year-in-review memes that made my heart sing but I kind of want to talk about this year? It was exciting. Well, the first part of it was, anyway, and I didn't blog about it much because I'm pretty genuinely a terrible blogger. But I got to do so much more this year than I usually do, and that starts with being abroad from the middle of January to the end of April!
So yeah, I didn't talk terribly much about my study abroad in London but I absolutely loved it. The courses (and even the people) weren't the greatest ever, though I did enjoy my flatmates, but I could very happily live in London for the rest of my life and had to be pried away at the end of the trip because I didn't want to leave. I got to meet loads of lovely fandom people (but I'm not going to list them all because I'd forget someone and it would be awkward) and honestly I just adored being in London. Museums and bridges and markets and shops and amazing people and now I'm making myself really depressed from how much I miss it. This time last year I was sorting out my packing and god knows when I'll get to go back but I DESPERATELY want to.
( more rambling about my life )
And, just for fun, a fic-writing year in review meme!
Total number of fics: 23ish
Total wordcount: 143,376 or something? That includes an exchange fic that's being posted later today, as well as my polybigbang from last winter that was written mostly in 2011 but posted in 2012. I'm too lazy to parse everything out. The vast majority of this word count has been written since the end of June. And it doesn't include any WIPs.
Total number of fandoms: somewhere between 7 and 10, depending on how you count One Direction/X Factor RPF/Olympics RPF/Radio 1 RPF

The South Isn't Your Punchline
Nov. 6th, 2012 10:24 amIt shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone ever that I care a huge amount of the political process. I've been staying up late for elections since I was ... younger than my parents know. This is the first presidential election I've been able to vote in, and it's also an incredibly important one, so I think my investment is totally understandable. (As are my stress and worry and anxiety.)
But here's the thing: I live in a state that's not going to go for Obama. I live in a congressional district where the wonderful politician I voted for is going to lose to a sleazebag who dumped millions of his own dollars into his campaign. And a thousand other things — good judges are going to lose because their names make it clear they're not white. Democrats across the state are going to lose because of gerrymandering from our extremely conservative legislature (which was a product of the Tea Party push in the midterm elections.) I'm not okay with any of this. I don't want good candidates losing races to horrible people, which is going to happen. I don't want to live in a state that has no rights for anyone, but that's what my state seems to be trying to do.
Only I don't hate living here. There's a lot of things I dislike about North Carolina, and the fact that we somehow passed a cripplingly horrible constitutional amendment in May with something like 17% of eligible voters actually voting is definitely one of them. But I like living somewhere with potential for improvement. I like looking at my city and seeing the progress that's been made over the course of my lifetime.
Neither of those things is the point of this post, though. This is the point: today is not the day for your reductivist jokes about everyone in the South being a hick or a racist or a religious nut. I'm probably never going to laugh at those jokes, because most of the southerners I know aren't like that at all, but I'm about to spend a lot of time being in the "bad" part of infographics, and no one wants to have their opinions negated. In about nine hours, the electoral college is going to tell me that standing in a voting booth and checking the box next to "Barack Obama" didn't count for shit, and that's a hard pill to swallow. Don't pretend I didn't stand in line for an hour to do that—and vote for all the other people I support who aren't going to win. Are there hicks and racists and religious nuts who are going to polls? Absolutely. But don't pretend everyone living below the Mason-Dixon line is one of them, because we are emphatically not.
Southerners contend with a lot of damaging negative stereotypes on a daily basis, and today we're all getting a very pointed reminder that those stereotypes exist for reason. So ... don't. This is my once-a-year reminder that my friends and (immediate) family aren't representative of the place I live, no matter how much I wish they were. This is my motivation to make phone calls for campaigns and sign petitions and argue louder.
It's not someone's punchline.

yuletide: dear (lovely) author
Oct. 23rd, 2012 09:44 pmHello! I hope you're pleased with whatever fandom we have in common and, well, if not, hopefully you'll be pleased to hear that I'm not outrageously picky.
Generally speaking, I'm really easy for banter and flirting, character-driven stories, people being good at things, pining (with resolution!) and secret feelings, happy endings when they make sense, people being good friends to one another and found families. I adore genderfuck, especially where a cis male character is turned into a cis female one, because the dynamics of that are fascinating to me. I'm totally game for AUs, either of the canon-based variety or not. I'm always a fan of stories with romance in them, but if that doesn't work for you or you'd rather write gen, I love that too (especially found families stuff, see above). I genuinely have no het/slash/femmeslash preference if you decide to go the shippy route, and while I'll happily read smut, I don't feel that there's any obligation to put it in a story. Oh, and I'm totally game for poly fics, if that's what floats your boat. (And by "totally game for," I mean "really love.") The list of things I don't like is pretty straightforward. I'm not a fan of harcore kink, incest, mpreg, omega-verse, knotting, humiliation (as a kink or otherwise), eating disorders and self-harm, or infidelity (though if it's addressed well in the text and not rewarded, I can find it very interesting). Stories about people pretending to be someone's friend in order to prank them, or friendships falling apart or ending suddenly can be triggery for me, so I'd very much prefer to not read those. Additionally, I don't like seeing female characters get sidelined or erased, or AU fics that change the interpersonal relationships between the characters so much that they feel like different people than they were in canon.
Fast Girls (2012) (Shania Andrews)
If you have any questions for me or want to snoop around, my tumblr is hopetorun (with anon asks turned on!), and my unlocked fandom twitter is @sketchingbirds.

Fast Girls (2012) (Shania Andrews)
Oh man, this movie. I loved it so much, and I loved everyone in it, and basically I have a lot of I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR (AND I WANT THEM TO MAKE OUT) feelings. Obviously I only requested Shania, and I'd love a story about her and her struggles or character study or anything, but honestly feel free to add in any other characters. Or just write about Lisa or Carl or Tommy, if that's what you really want to do. I'd be game for pretty much any pairing, romantically, or found families gen where everyone is bros and they get along famously. (Special shippy love for Shania/Lisa, Shania/Carl, Shania/Tommy, Lisa/Tommy, Shania/Lisa/Carl, Shania/Lisa/Tommy, though.) This would be a great fandom for AUs, because it's a lot of awesome people who are awesome together. Reality show AU, idek, like, can I suggest a Great British Bake Off AU? Is that too specific? Or any competitive show, really. Or any clichéd one, like a bakery AU or a college AU or what about one where they're all superheroes? (Not a huge fan of high school AUs but I'd read one here.) My favorite thing about the movie was how everyone bonded and then I had loads of team feelings and everyone loved each other and people overcoming their differences to work together and make out. Oh god I had delusions of making a coherent request here but apparently I have just vomited feelings instead. SORRY, LOVELY AUTHOR. I HOPE SOME OF THIS MADE SENSE.
Video Blogging and YouTube RPF (Hank Green, Katherine Green, Michael Aranda)This is the one where I have loads and loads of overwhelming polyamory feelings (hey, I mentioned above that I like polyamory). Somehow, I have ended up shipping Hank/Katherine/Michael because I have problems in my life or something, but anyway, I would love fic of them living together and being awesome and adorable and ... stuff. Or fic of them all being friends who stay up until 1 AM building a lego Millenium Falcon. I can't say I have any burning AU desires for this fandom but anything would be fine. Or something based around Super Mario Bros? That's weirdly specific, but whatever. I guess the only other thing to say is that Hank and Katherine are OTP and I don't want to read either of them paired with someone else (and preferably with each other).
X Factor RPF (any)I don't actually expect to get this one, and am still kind of laughing at myself for requesting it because ... yeah. But my cruel friends dragged me in and gave me feelings so. I would happily read just about anything about any one of the three characters who were nominated, because they're all awesome. Matt and Aiden are kind of OTP to me so I'm not sure I want to see them shipped with other people, but gen about anyone badassing/failing/awkwarding around would totally thrill me. As with my other requested fandoms, I'd love to see AUs but gen/canon/character study is wonderful as well. Character study of Caroline would be fantastic because there's so little about her and she is endlessly fascinating to me. I don't have loads of specific suggestions here but, you know, anything goes. I love the people, I have feelings about them, I'd love to get to read fic about them having feelings in any setting.
If you have any questions for me or want to snoop around, my tumblr is hopetorun (with anon asks turned on!), and my unlocked fandom twitter is @sketchingbirds.

Nov. 19th, 2011 06:05 pmHello! I hope you're pleased with whatever fandom we have in common and, well, if not, hopefully you'll be pleased to hear that I'm not a horribly picky person.
Generally speaking, I really enjoy banter, character-driven stories, people being good at things, happy endings when they make sense, stories that really draw me in emotionally (preferably on the way to a happy ending, but again, if it doesn't work I'd rather see a sad ending that makes sense), people being good friends to one another. I'm totally game for AUs, either of the canon-based variety or not, though I do prefer that they have some thematic parallels with the source material. I'm always a fan of stories with romance in them, but if that doesn't work for you or you'd rather write gen, I love that too. Oh, and I'm totally game for poly fics, if that's what floats your boat. (And by "totally game for," I mean "really love.")
The list of things I don't like is pretty short. I'm not a fan of hardcore kink or incest. Infidelity bothers me a lot, though if it's addressed well in the text and not rewarded, I don't mind. I don't like it when the conflict in a story doesn't seem to arise naturally, or when it comes from characters who would normally talk to each other not communicating. Additionally, I don't like seeing characters who aren't really breakable get turned into woobies (but if the character actually is a woobie, then please, feel free to run with it), seeing female characters get sidelined or erased, or AU fics that change the interpersonal relationships between the characters so much that they feel like different people than they were in canon.
And for my specific fandoms:
An Education (Jenny Mellor)
Dollhouse (Topher Brink, Adelle DeWitt)
Doctor Who RPF (Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill)
I hope this was helpful and inspiring, without being too constraining, lovely author. Happy holidays and have a wonderful yuletide!

And for my specific fandoms:
An Education (Jenny Mellor)
My dream story in this fandom would be something about Jenny and Danny, because I think their relationship has a lot of potential that wasn't explored in the film, especially given how clear it is that he wanted to protect her from getting hurt by David. Something shippy about them would be amazing, maybe set after the movie or even something like a modern AU. Alternately, just an exploration of their friendship. Or, if you don't feel comfortable writing Danny (because, after all, I only requested Jenny), I would love a character study of her, or a continuation about her experiences at Oxford.
Dollhouse (Topher Brink, Adelle DeWitt)
I would really love to see an exploration of their relationship in Epitaphs 1 and 2, because it's incredibly complex and loaded. I ship them a lot and any story about them with shippy overtones would pretty much make me flail forever, but I know that a lot of people see it as a more parental relationship, so if you're squicked by or uncomfortable with the idea of writing them with romantic feelings for one another, feel free to play up the friendship aspect or just the familial, parental one! I will say that I'm not sure an AU with a completely different setting would work here, but tweaking the canon around could be really interesting. And if you happen to have an idea for a crazy AU that you think would really work without changing the dynamics of their relationship too much, go for it!
Doctor Who RPF (Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill)
Okay, so reading a story about these three in a poly relationship would be a dream, but if you're uncomfortable with that, I'm totally okay for any pairing of the two with the third as a friend. A story about them that tracks with real life—they meet filming Doctor Who, etc etc—would be awesome, but this is a setup where I think a zillion different AUs could work, too. Maybe they went to high school together! Maybe two of them dated when they were young and it ended badly, and then years later one of them accidentally starts dating their ex's friend! Maybe they're all figure skaters and ... yeah, I don't even know where I was going with that one, but if you have an idea, more power to you. Maybe Matt actually does become a professional soccer/football (delete as applicable for your side of the pond) player and ... something. Maybe they are actually in a band called Karen and the Babes. Seriously, with this prompt? Anything goes!
I hope this was helpful and inspiring, without being too constraining, lovely author. Happy holidays and have a wonderful yuletide!

this is a meme and fic journal
Oct. 10th, 2011 03:17 pmI'm too lazy to write and not quite motivated enough to study for my biology exam on Friday, so I'm kind of at loose ends. I ought to be either working on my
polybigbang (which hit 8k on Saturday, a feat I celebrated by staying up until 3:30 AM writing Mark/Chris) or finishing a Generation Kill kittenfic I started a couple weeks ago. OR, I could start one of the two vague ideas I have for shortfics, one of which is Mark/Chris where Mark convinces Chris to stop smoking* and the other of which is an Amy POV Amy/Dustin thing.
* yeah, okay, it was actually
hapakitsune's idea, but it's a cute one and I kind of want to play with it
Unrelated, but The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is seriously disturbing.
Anyway, the real point of this post is to do a meme, because I love memes. So, who wants to play fuck-mary-kill with me?
(You know, that's the one where you give me three people, fictional, real, some combination, and I pick one to marry, one to fuck, and one to kill.)
